Hello Everyone, welcome to my guide to dapper dressing. Guys (and girls), we have all been there, those dapper dilemma’s?! What To Wear?! Whether it is to The Races, Graduations, Debs, Christening’s, Weddings, The Afters of a Wedding etc… We want to look good BUT we are suffering from a lack of inspiration. This post will fix that! Pretty lofty ambitions from one post, right?! However, I have something for everyone, for every dapper occasion in this post. This post is not entirely about wearing Suits either. It is a dapper dressing guide.

THE GREY CHECK SUIT

A Grey Check Suit is a timeless piece to invest in. The Check Suit has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity lately thanks to another Irish Man, Conor McGregor so there should be plenty of options to choose from. A 3 piece Check Suit will give you a lot of outfit options. For example, you can wear it as a 3 piece, 2 piece or just the Waistcoat and Trousers. You can also use the Suit as separates for example you could wear the Waistcoat and Jacket with a pair of black trousers/jeans for a night out during the Party Season. Wearing the Trousers with a Knitted Polo is another fantastic outfit idea.

BURTON MENSWEAR 3 PIECE CHECK SUIT

The Check Suit I am wearing is from Burton Menswear, in fact I am wearing Burton head to toe. Burton is renowned for its Suit Collection having produced Suits since 1903! When styling this Suit I went with a white shirt as a base colour. White, in my opinion is the best shirt you can have with a Suit. If you are stuck for ideas then white is your friend. A navy Floral Print Tie adds a splash of colour and interest to the focal point of the Suit. Brown shoes finish off this Dapper ensemble.

PERFECT FOR weddings, races, graduations, christenings!

THE BLUE SUIT

Blue is an incredibly popular colour when choosing Suits. Blue, is a great colour and suits most guys features. Another reason blue is so popular is because most other colours complement it so well for example blue and pink, blue and white, etc… Choosing a Blue or Navy Suit for you dapper occasions is a choice you are unlikely to regret.

BURTON MENSWEAR BLUE SUIT

The blue 3 piece suit I am wearing from Burton. I went for a different idea when styling this outfit by choosing a red bow tie. This version is ideal for a graduation, debs or the races and is more fashion orientated. It is a testament to just how versatile a blue or navy suit is when you consider the suit I am wearing is suitable for every occasion….depending on the accessories you choose. For example by choosing a burgundy tie you can wear it to the office. Perhaps, straight after your dapper occasion?! Party Hard!

PERFECT FOR weddings, graduations, christenings, debs and races

Not every dapper occasion requires a suit though. This is where the inspiration for this post came from. You don’t have to wear suit for certain occasions where the dress code is smart casual. Remember earlier when I said “always go for a 3 piece suit”? The reasoning for that advice presents itself here.

SMART SEPERATES

A suit is made up of pieces sometimes referred to as separates. Al this means is they can be sold separately. However, it also means they can be styled separately! Consider that for a moment………YES! That is exactly what it means. You have 3 pieces you can now use as part of other outfit combinations.

A TOUCH OF PINK

To emphasise my point about 3 piece suits I turn to one of my most inspired sale buys…..ever! This linen suit jacket and waistcoat from River Island. While, the choice of colour might not appeal to you the use of seperates should. Simply swap out my pink for your check separates?! BOOM! For those of you who absolutely love this outfit I shall explain my choice of style. Pink, as we know is a great colour to work with. I have styled the outfit with black skinny jeans but black trousers would work here too. Strong contrasts, like opposites, tend to work well together. Keeping the accessories black helps too. Add some slip on tan loafers, display some mankle – you’re welcome!

It is not always possible to find the waistcoat of the blazer you love. However, all is not lost here. Once again pictures will illustrate my point much more. I shall explain though. Grey is a colour which tends to work well on most guys. It is also a very versatile colour which can be styled quite well. My next outfit is a New Look Men Blazer combined with a Burton Menswear Double Breasted Waistcoat. While they are not from the store they are close enough in terms of colour to work.

PERFECT FOR races, wedding afters, christenings, the party season and new years eve
